Entrepreneur magazine defines mission statement as a sentence describing a company’s function, markets and competitive advantages; a short written statement of your business goals and philosophies.
Here are four tips for writing a mission and vision page for your website:
One: Make it short and concise
You don’t want a long essay. Nike offers a good example of writing a mission:
To bring inspiration and innovation to every *athlete in the world.
*If you have a body, you are an athlete
It should be like a slogan, which is short, effective and not complicated.
Two: Evolving
All companies that are growing are always evolving and should not stay the same forever. Your mission statement will change as you grow as a company. Though your company’s culture, identity and core values may not change, your mission may be different as your company’s direction changes.
You can always tweak your Mission and Vision Page and make it relevant and timely.
Three: Show your company’s purpose, values and reasons you exist
What is your intention and why do you exist? Here are Zappos’ core values that serve as Zappos’ Mission and Vision Page. This example shows the company’s culture and how they serve clients:

Four: Be Specific
The more specific you are, the clearer your Mission and Vision Page will be. Another example of mission is from Elevation Church:
So that people far from God will be raised to life in Christ.

So that health conscious stay at home moms who want to raise healthy babies using natural remedies like essential oils will be encouraged to share their stories and make extra income.
